Online Therapy: What is it?

Online therapy is psychotherapy or counseling services conducted over the internet.  Online therapy allows you and I to connect using any device that has an internet connection, such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

The same rules apply to online therapy that applies to in-person therapy. Therapy is still confidential, Sessions are protected with HIPPA compliant encrypted software.

Major mental health disorders like Trauma, anxiety, and addiction can still be treated online using Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques, Client-Centered Therapy, and talk-therapy.

Advantages of online therapy:

  • Effective: Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for various mental health conditions.

  • Convenience: Therapy from the comfort of your own home without the drive added to an already busy schedule.

  • Confidentiality: Some people may still feel embarrassed to seek help. Online therapy can eliminate the fear of being seen going into a counsellor’s office or of people knowing you are attending counselling.
